In Conversation with Cameron Pozza, the Multifaceted Creative Breaking Boundaries in South Australia

Tell us a bit about yourself:

My name is Cameron, I'm 21 years old, I'm from Korea and I now live in Adelaide, South Australia. I'm a photographer, graphic designer and videographer. I also make music.

Who inspires you?

So my biggest photography inspiration is Ren Hang, a Chinese photographer who unfortunately passed away. But he worked a lot with nature and nudity but in an artistic sort of way. He would put people in situations, just in nature, or an obscure location like a fish tank or a bathtub.

How did you get into videography, photography & graphic design?

I always loved creating things as a kid. I'd draw all the time, and then at one point, I think I was fifteen, I borrowed my mum's camera and started shooting things. One thing led to another, and I put a group together called The Vision, and we just began shooting for free & from that, we started to get paid for our work.

How would you describe your creative style?

My creative style would be something of a vintage aesthetic, but I do a lot of minimal and industrial work as well when it comes to editorials.

What elements of Ren Hang do you think you use most?

He used a lot of directional flash in his photography. He'd set up these images in a dark area and then shoot directly onto the subject with flash, which I find is quite an interesting look.

If you could collaborate with one person or brand, who would it be and why?

So there's a brand that I hold very close to my heart, but I have never been able to afford or see in real life. It's one that I've always admired, and it is a Korean brand called IISE. They create clothes that are very much in the traditional Korean style, so it's very boxy and flowy and is in a lot of earth tones, which I love.

If moneweren’t’t an issue, what is one piece of clothing or equipment that you would purchase?

A piece of clothing would be the Sacai Vaporwaffle in the villain red colourway. And in terms of equipment, I’d just like a new camera probably the Canon EOS R5 or R6.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In the long term, I hope to be a creative director or a content manager for a larger business or brand. I’d also like to slow down finding work and have work just find me instead. I’d like to focus on being able to harness my creativity to its fullest potential.
